Serving the cities of St. Helena, Calistoga, and Yountville, and county of Napa, Upper Valley Disposal & Recycling (UVDR) is rolling out a residential food scrap program with compliant containers. In addition to the compost facility at UVDR, they are implementing a commercial covered aerated static pile (CASP) food scrap composting operation at Clover Flat Resource Recovery Park.

Currently, UVDR diverts over 60,000 tons a year of organics from their various organic management operations. At Clover Flat landfill, they generate over 800KW of renewable energy through methane capture and are also applying to the air district to build a 1MW biomass plant to manage additional woody waste.
